SIP Protocol (An overview)

Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is a protocol used for initiating sessions between a user and telecommunication applications such as a voice mail system. SIP is a text based protocol, easy to program, flexible, and scalable to a large extent. It is one of the important signaling protocols employed in VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol).
