You're so vain, I bet you think this blog is about you

The song by Carly Simon always puzzled me. She states "you're so vain, I bet you think this song is about you" when clearly the entire song is about the man. I wouldn't call that vanity, I would call that common sense.

If you had the opportunity get your company name on the lips of potential customers, would you call that vanity or good business sense? The question seems rhetorical, yet could stand being asked. When faced with an opportunity to further your business, do you take it?

For companies who rely on their phones for business it is in their best interest to have a number easily remembered. Solution: a vanity number. A vanity number is simply the numerical equivalents to letters which spell out the company name. For example, a recent customer used XXX-9COMMENT. Because of our access to ordering handpicked numbers, the greater the options for a customized vanity number.

So go ahead and 'walk into the party like you were walking onto a yacht' knowing that your vanity will get you business.
